Empowering Your Staff to Make More Sales

30 August 2012

Nothing will do more to help your business be successful than having a staff that feels empowered. The following is a look at some of the ways you can empower your staff. Remember, the more empowered they are, the more likely they are to start making a few more sales.
More training
One of the most effective ways to empower your staff to make more sales is to increase the skills and knowledge they have, and invest in additional training. The more training you provide your staff, the more skills and abilities they will have, making it far easier for them to make sales at a far greater speed.

Build pride in your company
People will always feel more empowered in their jobs when they feel good about what it is they are doing, so make sure you take every opportunity to provide meaningful work, and to make your staff proud of themselves and your business. By giving your staff work that suits them, they will feel far better about their work, and more empowered to do a fantastic job.
Better tools
Without the proper tools, it will be hard for your staff to keep up with your business’s competitors, so show some faith in them and give your staff a chance to keep up by investing in a few more up-to-date capabilities. Whether you get self-serve checkouts to take the pressure off or invest in mobile POS devices, the cost of the extra thermal rolls and receipt paper will be negligible compared to the extra productivity you get out of a staff that is a little more empowered.
More power
Even though it can be scary to let go of some of the power over your business, it is important that you show faith in your staff and give them the power to do what they must in order to do the best job for your business. Provide them with their own company credit card to take their important clients for lunch and seal those deals, and start giving them the power to make a few more important decisions, as there is no better way to empower your staff than by concretely giving them a little more power.
Increase their confidence
A confident staff will always be a more empowered staff, so don’t miss a chance to give a compliment or make it clear that they are being 100 per cent supported, because if your staff feel like you have faith in them, they are far more likely to have faith in themselves. Whether you give out awards or just make a point of giving credit when it is clearly due, your staff will feel more appreciated and empowered, and your business will thrive as a result.
